Bermuda Blockade
(TV Series screenplay)
LOGLINE: The American Civil War. Bermuda blockade runners. War is hell...but oh so profitable.
SUMMARY:
BERMUDA BLOCKADE is a Civil War adventure series set on the once-sleepy paradise island of Bermuda, turned overnight by the American conflict into a raging boomtown rife with brothels, smugglers, spies, and war profiteers. Located just 600 miles off the Carolina coast, the British colony is perfectly located to thwart the Union’s naval blockade of Confederate ports. Huge fortunes are made running desperately needed supplies to the war-torn South in return for slave-grown cotton -- the "White Gold" -- so coveted in Europe.
James Pindar, a young Bermudian ship-builder of British descent, is our hero. Like a cyber software genius today or a nuclear physicist in the 1940’s, Pindar’s talent as a ship designer in 1861 puts him dead center in the arms race of his generation -- the quest for the fastest, stealthiest ships. His family and country torn apart by conflicting allegiances, Pindar risks life, liberty, love, and maybe even his soul, to design and run ships to the Rebels, playing a lethal game of cat and mouse with the Yankee fleet.
BERMUDA BLOCKADE will appeal to a wide audience with plenty of action, intrigue, wit, sex, and compelling characters. Although historically-based, Pindar’s world will feel contemporary, as it deals with patriotism, greed, globalization, racism, profiteering, politics, corruption, miscegenation, violence, drugs, and deadly epidemics.
